Vitoria-Gasteiz Homelessness Policy

The Social Services Department in Vitoria-Gasteiz has a team of 24 professionals working for the Unidad de Recursos de Acogida y Alojamiento (Reception and Accommodation Resource Unit) and 63 other professionals working for homeless associations and organisations.

The main objectives of the homeless policy are:

  • Provision of adapted accommodation, including supported housing, accommodation for victims of gender-based violence, temporary "atypical housing" for people who have not benefited from mainstream accommodation;
  • Ease of access to accommodation services (low-threshold centres);
  • Collecting data on the need for homeless services.
